VCI Anti-Rust Film for Metal Parts on Export Lanes

VCI Anti-Rust Film for Metal Parts on Export Lanes

Ferrous parts that leave India in a container often meet salt air, temperature swings, and weeks of dwell. Conventional PE wrap keeps dust off; it does not stop corrosion. VCI / anti-rust film is polyethylene with an additive that volatilises and conditions the enclosed air around the metal.

What it is — and is not

It is a packaging aid for clean, dry metal in a reasonably sealed wrap or bag. It is not paint, plating, or a guarantee against every alloy and every monsoon delay. Cast iron, machined steel, and many auto components are typical uses. Some non-ferrous metals need a different grade — say so on the RFQ.

Sample on your climate

  • Wrap a representative part as you would for the real PO.
  • Include the same paper, foam, or desiccant you actually use.
  • Age it in conditions close to the lane (GCC heat, European winter, African port dwell).
  • Open and inspect before you book a container.

How we quote

We run anti-rust film as sheet or bag to the width you need. If a military or aerospace spec is outside our line, we will say so. Combine with EPE foam if the failure mode is also denting, not only rust.

Questions this note answers

Will VCI film stop rust on oily or wet parts?

No. Surfaces should be clean and dry. Oil films and fingerprints change how the inhibitor works. Follow the grade note on the quotation.
